                     Britannia Treadles.
 The
Britannia Sewing machine Company, based in Colchester, England,
were as well renowned for their treadle designs as their machine
heads. Joseph Blomfield, a managing partner in the company,
submitted the designs illustrated for patent protection in 1868.
Their manufacture resulted in treadles which today, can be considered
                highly desirable. | |
