Newton Wilson

Newton Wilson's miniature the "Queen Bess" left the drawing board in 1872. The entire front arm of the machine was to rise and fall, thereby dispensing with a needle slide. The whole machine was driven by an internal gearing system patented earlier by Wilson in 1866.
