James Starley's 1868 patent fully exploited the use of cams within this Wheeler & Wilson rotary shuttle design. Three were to be employed in varying positions along the shuttle driving shaft. With power being transmitted from flywheel to main shaft via belt drive, a quiet and efficient operation would have been assured.
